First Flood recovery trip leaves for Louisiana Monday, Aug. 29, from Mississippi Coast: Volunteers needed
The Diocese of Louisiana is now prepared to receive volunteer teams to help with their recovery effort in response to the recent flooding in their area. The diocese will handle case management and housing for our groups. Crews are being organized from Coast congregations for Saturday/Sunday and Monday /Tuesday trips for the foreseeable future. Must be 18 or over to volunteer at this time. To volunteer for one of these crews/trips contact the Rev. Scott Lenoir at 601-331-1863 or slenoir@ gmail.com.
The first trip departs for the Denham Springs area this Monday, August 29, at 7 a.m. from St. Mark's and will return on Tuesday, August 30. We need a head count in advance to get housing for our crew. If you need to depart on your own, let me know and I will add you to the list and provide an address.
We have enough tools for a crew of 10 people. Short on wheelbarrows, however. Need two. See equipment list if you would like to bring your own tools.
Please contact me ASAP if you are able to go for the first trip so that housing can be arranged.
Thank you all for your offerings of all kinds! They are greatly appreciated by our friends in Louisiana.
